Fertility assessment
A fertility assessment is the clinical and laboratory investigation of the couple. It is the starting point of any treatment: understanding the causes objectively is what makes it possible to indicate the right path.
The assessment is not a single exam, but a set of information that, taken together, explains what is making pregnancy difficult. In most cases, it is possible to reach a clear diagnosis in the first round of tests.
When to do it

Frequently asked questions about the assessment
Do both partners need to be assessed?
Yes. Infertility has a male, female or combined cause with similar frequency. Assessing only one side delays the diagnosis.
How long does the investigation take?
In general, the investigation is completed within one to two menstrual cycles, since some tests depend on specific phases of the cycle.
The laboratory phase — gamete handling, fertilization, culture and cryopreservation — is carried out by a partner laboratory, contracted separately, in accordance with the rules of the Brazilian Federal Council of Medicine.
